I was approached by Nina Yoshida-Webster, a dancer with Ballet RI, to utilize two of my original piano compositions, Emergence and Remembrance, to create a new contemporary work for Ballet RI’s 2025 Made on Hope program.
The program featured the choreographic works of six Ballet RI dancers, all surrounding the theme of “Intersections.” Nina decided to create a pas de deux depicting the intersection of two lives and the journey they take together.
Inspired by the music from my piano album Chrysalism and the Japanese word “nagame” (meaning long rain), Nina’s choreography visualizes the idea that you can weather any storm with the one you love.
